Our accommodation was conceived by transforming an existing ruin on a family-owned plot near the sea, located within a protected environmental zone. We chose to revitalize it into a welcoming, peaceful retreat at the eastern tip of São Jorge Island, Azores. Hence the name Ponta Nascente, highlighting its location at the “Ponta” and its orientation to the rising sun.
The house offers privileged views of the lighthouse, the sea, Ilhéu do Topo, and Terceira Island in the distance. It is also conveniently close to several points of interest, including a natural swimming pool, an ice cream shop, and a local restaurant. In the surrounding area, you can observe colonies of protected species across terrestrial, coastal, and marine habitats, such as the roseate tern, common tern, angel fish, and Cory’s shearwater. During their stay, guests can enjoy activities including hiking trails, maritime adventures, immersion in local viticulture and vegetable farming culture, and evening enjoyment of the lighthouse’s beacon.Nearby lies the village of Vila do Topo, offering all essential services, including postal services, taxis, pharmacy, grocery stores, bakery, school, tourist monuments, and the fishing and bathing harbor. The surrounding landscape is magnificent, featuring fajãs classified as Cultural Heritage, waterfalls, and scenic trails that define the region. Don’t miss the renowned Queijo do Topo factory, where guests can sample the famous local cheese. This accommodation stands out for its privileged location in a quiet, traffic-free area with ocean views. It offers an extensive outdoor space for leisure, including barbecue facilities, swings, and social areas.
